Fountain of Grace - Celebrating 150 years of the Icon of Love
AUTHOR Jim McManus CSsR
On 26 April 1866 the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, considered lost or destroyed for over sixty years, was enshrined in the Redemptorist church of St Alphonsus in Rome.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary, Fr Jim tells the story of this miraculous icon and how devotion to it spread throughout the world, as prayer in the Perpetual Novena became a feature of the life of so many Catholic parishes. He considers the meaning of the icon, and how we can develop and promote devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in our homes and communities today.
