Welcome to the website of the Catholic Bookshop in Cape Town
We carry a wide range of Catholic and other Christian books from local and overseas publishers, as well as church supplies such as incense, hosts, non-alcoholic wine and repository goods. We are situated next to the Archdiocesan Chancery at No 14 Bouquet Street Cape Town, behind the Catholic Cathedral. Call us on 021 465 5904 or 063 222 2724 for directions. This website is now available in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa. Click on the button next to "View as" at the bottom of the Homepage to change language. Note: We will be closed on Saturday 21st March which is a public holiday in South Africa.
The Season of Lent
From Ash Wednesday 18th February 2026 until Holy week which begins on Palm Sunday 29th March the Christian church celebrates the season of Lent. Lent is a time of prayer, penance and fasting, commemorating Jesus' agony, suffering and death. It's therefore a time of preparation for Easter. For books on Lent and Holy week, type in "Lent" in the search bar above.
