‘The Book of Foundations,’ depicts the efforts and difficulties for the foundations - new convents and monasteries. The new foundations were meant for new Carmelite way of life for nuns. Experiencing their own inner urging toward a life a deeper prayer, cremitical, the kind their holy forefathers on Mount Carmel had embraced, the discalced religious had to find their own homes. Teresa had outlined the spirituality she envisioned for the little group of nuns in each new homes.
